“The Making of the Constitution of India: Exploring the Role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar”

As part of Monthly Lecture Series on “The Making of the Constitution of India: Exploring the Role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar” the 8 th Lecture on “Constitution of India and its Salient Features” was organized in Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education, at 09.30 AM onwards. The Lecture was delivered by Mr. Ashutosh Deshwal, Lecturer, Faculty of Law.Total 72 Students of Faculty of Education attended the Lecture. The prime focus of the lecture delivered by Mr. Ashutosh Deshwal was on basic features of the Indian Constitution and constitutional values envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He addressed the moral philosophy of the Constitution of India. Various landmark judgments of the honorable Supreme Court in this regard were also discussed by the speaker with the audience. During the Lecture he touched upon the various constitutional issues of the present scenario too. During the Lecture, firstly he explained that what bound us together? He said that the various constitutional values and constitutional spirit such as the principle of equality, freedom of liberty, secularism, idea of fraternity, provision against exploitation are the fundamental principles incorporated in the constitution by Dr. Ambedkar which bound us together. He said that Dr. Ambedkar was not only the champion of fundamental rights but he argued for welfare and rights of women also. Text prepared by him provides constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individuals. Concept of socio-economic justice for the people envisaged very well in Directive Principles of State Policy in part IV of the Constitution. Dr. Ambedkar introduced the provisions for protective discrimination in the constitution of India. He also said that Dr. Ambedkar was a strong supporter of parliamentary form of democracy. He said that Dr. Ambedkar has incorporated various provisions in the Indian Constitution from various sources very diligently.
