Third Lecture organized by Dr. Ambedkar Chair
For making awareness about the rights and liberties given the constitution, a program has been organized in Seminar Hall, Jyotirao Phule, Subharti College of Physiotherapy, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. It was conducted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair on the date of 10.11.2023 at 2.00 PM in which all students and faculty members took part with great zeal and interest. Ms. Afreen Almas, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, SVSU was invited for a lecture on the topic “The Making of the Constitution of India: Exploring the role of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as guidelines for students. She has given a very motivating lecture regarding this. During this session, the attendees were introduced to constitutional rights and liberties.
A lecture on “Protection of the Rights and Liberties of the Citizen under constitution of India: The Role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar” as part of monthly lecture series on “The Making of the Constitution of India: Exploring the role of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar” was delivered by Ms. Afreen Almas who was the resource person of this session. She has delivered an impressive content on the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambekar for the protection of the rights and liberties of people in India. She said that constitution also contains many features for the remedies in case of violation of civil liberties and rights of individuals.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, popularly known as Baba Saheb Ambedkar was known as the father of the Indian Constitution. He was appointed as the Chairman of the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly which was given the responsibility for framing the Constitution.
She clarified that a constitution is important because it ensures that those who make decisions on behalf of the public fairly represent public opinion. It also sets out the ways in which those who exercise power may be held accountable to the people they serve. The session was very interesting and students and faculty members all are taking interest through having their inquiry regarding constitution at the end of the session.
