Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library & Information Science at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut held a Two-day National workshop on “ Open Source Integrated Library Software – KOHA” on February 23rd and 24th 2024. The workshop aimed to help LIS Professionals install and customize KOHA, an open-source library management software, and manage library operations effectively. It provided a platform for professionals using KOHA to share information and discuss common issues. The workshop inaugurated by Dr. Abhay M. Shankeregowda, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut on February 23, 2024, He delivered information enriched lecture on the basic library activities and e-resources for study and research. Participants from over 5 states attended.
The workshop connected experts Dr. Jasbir Singh from Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and Mr. Praveen Kumar, Guru Nanak College, Delhi & Mr. Madhvendra Abhinandan from Rishihood University, Sonipat Haryana respectively, with participants to enhance knowledge and initiate capacity building and emphasizing the significance of open source library management system, particularly Koha, in libraries. The technical sessions took place at computer lab.
The second day session started with modules of Koha Library Management Software. Participants had hands-on practical sessions with blended teaching methodology. Sessions covered theory and practical skills. The technical session ended with the resource person interacting with participants and addressing queries. Faculty members and staff made the workshop successful with their active participation.
The Valedictory session was overseen by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Head, DLIS, who welcomed the participants and dignitaries. The participants gave feedback on the program. Dr. Sudhir Tyagi felicitated keynote speaker Dr. Jasbir Singh, Resource Person Mr. Praveen Kumar, and Mr. Madhvendra Abhinandan. Certificates were distributed to participants and resource persons. Dr. Sapna Sharma, Assistant Professor presented workshop report and gave the vote of thanks at the end of the workshop.
