WORLD CEREBRAL PALSY DAY

World Cerebral palsy day, dedicated to a non-progressive disorder, Cerebral palsy. It was first initiated by cerebral palsy alliance in 2012, now observed globally.

Every year on 6th of October, this day proposes general awareness, empowerment and independence for the Cerebral palsy patients.

In 2024, Jyotirao Phule College of Physiotherapy once again took a charge of celebrating this day, organized a camp, and a display station in order to reach the masses to make them aware about this particular disorder.

The celebration of this day was observed on 5th and 7th October. The camp was held on 5th of October while the display station was displayed in CSSH on 5th and 7th October.

In the camp organized, patients were treated; splints and orthosis were prescribed along with the education of patients about the condition.

At the display station, charts were displayed which depicted the etiology, types,  risk factors & importance of Physiotherapy in Cerebral Palsy. Orthosis, splints, CP chair & CP stand were also displayed which help in awareness of general population about the condition.

The event was coordinated and organized by Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Dr Kayinat Hassan and Dr Aditi Kuliyal under the guidance of Dean and Principal Prof (Dr) Jasmine Anandabai, JRPSCP. Moreover, the two days of activity resulted in a fruitful way as number of patients received a quality treatment and people were about cerebral palsy.
