The workshop was conducted by Dr. Preeti Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Singh explained to the students how professional news readers read from a prompter and how this art can be mastered with regular practice. She highlighted the dos and don’ts of prompter reading, emphasizing the importance of voice modulation, pronunciation, gestures, posture, and maintaining eye contact with the camera.
Prof. R.P. Singh, Director, Subharti Media, addressed the students and shared valuable insights on the practical challenges faced during prompter reading. He mentioned that although it appears easy on screen, it is quite challenging for newcomers as it requires constant focus on pronunciation, expression, and synchronization with the camera.
He added that effective prompter reading demands confidence, body language control, and natural communication skills that can be achieved only through consistent practice.
The workshop also received special support from Mr. Gunjesh Ojha and Mr. Rajkumar Nagar, producers at Subharti Media, who shared their technical experience and guided students on the newsroom setup and prompter handling.
The session concluded with an interactive demonstration, where students practised live prompter reading and received feedback from the trainers. The workshop was highly beneficial in enhancing students’ anchoring and presentation skills and gave them a glimpse into the real-world newsroom environment.
