Alumni Session on “Essential Aspects of Building a Legal Career”
The Alumni Session titled “Essential Aspects of Building a Legal Career” was organized with the objective of providing students with valuable insights into the professional journey and experiences of an accomplished alumnus who has successfully entered the judicial services. The session aimed to guide students on developing the competencies necessary for success in the legal field.
The program began with the formal introduction of the distinguished alumni speaker Dr. Shivani Sharma, Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Government of Jharkhand. She is a proud alumna of Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Meerut, where she completed her B.A. LL.B. (2012–2017) and LL.M. (2017–2019) and later pursued M.Phil. and Ph.D. in continuation from the same institution. Her academic journey and professional achievements were highlighted to inspire the students and demonstrate how dedication, discipline, and consistent effort can lead to success in the legal profession.
During the session, Dr. Shivani Sharma shared her experiences regarding the preparation and dedication required to achieve success in the judicial services. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong foundation in core legal subjects, developing analytical skills, and practicing legal writing and answer-structuring techniques for competitive examinations.
She further highlighted the significance of discipline, time management, and consistent revision while preparing for judicial services and other legal career paths. The speaker advised students to remain focused on their goals and to cultivate patience and perseverance throughout their professional journey.
The session also covered important aspects such as ethical conduct, judicial temperament, and the responsibility associated with the legal profession. Dr. Sharma encouraged students to actively participate in internships, moot courts, debates, and legal research activities to enhance their practical understanding of law.
The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to respected Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Officiating Dean for her continuous encouragement and academic support in promoting alumni engagement and professional development opportunities for students. Special appreciation was also extended to our Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Chandra, Director for his constant guidance and motivation in strengthening experiential learning initiatives within the institution.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Arshad Alam, Assistant Professor and Member, Alumni Trust, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the speaker for sharing her valuable experiences and practical guidance. He also thanked all the participants for their active presence and engagement throughout the session.
