Report on Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt Punyatithi: An Inspirational Tribute 20-07-2026
As part of the “Subharti Days for Celebration-2026 Department of Education Pays Inspirational Tribute to Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt on His 62nd Death Anniversary The Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, solemnly commemorated the 62nd Death Anniversary of Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt on 20 July 2026 with great reverence and patriotism. The event successfully instilled the values of patriotism, national unity, democratic responsibility, and social commitment among the participants. It also reflected the Department’s commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting value-based education and responsible citizenship.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries, followed by the floral tribute to the portrait of Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt, remembering his unparalleled sacrifice and contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education. Dean Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra highlighted the importance of commemorating the life and ideals of Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt and inspired students to uphold the values of patriotism, courage, national unity, and selfless service. The programme featured inspiring keynote addresses by Dr. Ashok Tyagi, Professor, College of Journalism & Mass Communication and Editor, Prabhat Newspaper. Adding a literary touch to the event, and Shri Kuldeep Narayan, Sanskrit Vibhag, SVSU, who emphasized the relevance of the revolutionary’s ideals in present-day society and encouraged students to become responsible, ethical, and socially committed citizens. Mumtaj Sheikh presented a patriotic poem that deeply moved the audience.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of various departments. Dr. Javed Khan (PT) and BPT Intern Jyoti Rao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy actively participated in the programme. Ms. Anushka from B.El.Ed VII semester explained the contribution of Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt during Jail. Ms. Riya Kaushik (B.El.Ed. VII Semester) and Ms. Dhani (B.El.Ed. V Semester) were appreciated for their enthusiastic participation. The event was also graced by Dr. Manoj Tripathi, Associate Professor, Art and Liberal Science College, and Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with their faculty members.The programme was effectively anchored by Ms. Sunanda Sanmotra as the Master of the Ceremony (MC). Ms. Swati and Ms. Fiza efficiently managed the media coverage, while all faculty members extended wholehearted support, ensuring the grand success of the programme.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, by Dr Indira Singh Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, faculty members, students, and volunteers. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Reeba Devi, Assistant Professor and Activity Coordinator, and served as a meaningful tribute to the legacy of Shaheed Batukeshwar Dutt while reinforcing the ideals of patriotism, sacrifice, and responsible citizenship. All faculty members extended their wholehearted cooperation and support, which played a significant role in making the programme meaningful, memorable, and highly successful.
