ALUMNI SESSION ON LEGAL EDUCATION
Alumni session in Subharti Institute of Law organized by the Mr. Arshad Alam, Alumni coordinator of the college under the leadership of Dean faculty of Law Prof. Reena Bishnoi and under the direction of Director, Subharti Institute of Law. The session began with a welcome address by Ms. Ana Sisodia, Assistant Professor, who formally welcomed the alumni speaker and the participants. In her address, she highlighted the significance of the session and its relevance in helping students understand the importance of balancing academics with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for overall academic, personal, and professional growth. The speaker of the program Ms.Gauri Verma emphasized that college education serves as the foundation of a student’s professional life. It was highlighted that consistent dedication towards studies is essential irrespective of the career path chosen. The speaker encouraged students to develop strong conceptual clarity and academic discipline, as these form the base for long-term success in the legal profession. A clear distinction was made between curricular and extra-curricular activities. The speaker explained that curricular activities help in building subject knowledge and academic competence, while extra-curricular activities play a vital role in shaping overall personality. The integration of both was emphasized as essential for developing confidence, communication skills, and a strong curriculum vitae. The speaker discussed the importance of participation in moot court competitions, debates, legal writing competitions, and other academic contests. These activities were described as effective platforms for enhancing legal knowledge, analytical skills, and practical exposure. Special emphasis was placed on research activities and paper publication, highlighting their value in academic development and professional recognition. Students were advised to plan their careers strategically and always keep an alternative option. The speaker discussed various career opportunities available in the legal field, including litigation, law firms, corporate sector, judiciary, and advocacy. This discussion helped students gain clarity about multiple career paths and make informed decisions based on their interests and abilities. The speaker guided students on the importance of pursuing additional professional and skill-based courses along with regular college studies. Time management, consistency, and dedication were emphasized as key factors in balancing academics with additional learning to gain practical experience and professional competence.
In the concluding part of the session, the speaker shared insights into the realities of the legal profession. It was observed that the field requires patience, hard work, sincerity, and perseverance, especially during the initial years. Students were encouraged to remain committed, disciplined, and focused on long-term goals despite challenges. Session end with the vote of thanks.
