Awareness Program on Menstrual Hygiene Organized by Department of Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Committee and the Gender Sensitization Cell successfully organized an Awareness Program on Menstrual Hygiene on 10th February 2026. The program aimed to promote awareness regarding menstrual health, hygiene practices and the importance of breaking social taboos associated with menstruation among students.

The expert speaker for the program was Dr. Afreen Bee (MBBS, DGO) from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Subharti Medical College, Meerut. Dr. Afreen Bee delivered an informative and interactive session highlighting the biological aspects of menstruation, hygienic practices, common health issues, myths and misconceptions and the importance of maintaining proper nutrition and sanitation during menstrual cycles. She also encouraged students to speak openly about menstrual health and seek medical advice whenever required.

The program was conducted under the blessings of Prof. Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of health education as a crucial component of overall well-being and empowerment. Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head of the Department of Physical Education, also addressed the gathering and motivated students to prioritize personal health and hygiene.

Faculty members and a large number of students actively participated in the session. The program concluded with an interactive question–answer session, where students clarified their doubts and shared their experiences. The initiative was highly appreciated and proved to be a meaningful step towards promoting awareness, gender sensitivity, and women’s health on campus.
