Objectives

  1. Enhance Understanding: To deepen students’ comprehension of the key elements of curriculum and knowledge foundation.
  2. Develop Presentation Skills: To cultivate confidence and ability in delivering structured, engaging presentations as well as enhance students’ verbal and non-verbal communication through active interaction.

 

Introduction

The Classroom Seminar on Knowledge & Curriculum-Foundation was organized by the final-year students of B.El.Ed VII Semester of the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU, Meerut. The event aimed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the seminar topics through presentations and discussions. Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, SVSU, Meerut &Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU, Meerut appreciated the collective effort of Student Coordinators: Sujata Singh and Shrashti Sharma, students of B.El.Ed VII Semester and their team member, Laxmi Sharma, Pardeep Yadav, Shruti Kaushik, Vedika Verma.etc.It was held under the supervision of Dr. Reeba Devi, Assistant Professor.

The seminar was spread across two days and included the following topics: Meaning and Concept of Curriculum: Defining curriculum and its importance in education. Components of Curriculum: Detailed discussion on elements such as objectives, content, teaching strategies, and assessment. Objective Models of Curriculum: Emphasis on models like Hilda Taba’s approach to curriculum development. Types of Curriculum: Overview of formal, informal, hidden, and null curriculum types. Curriculum Load: Addressing issues related to excessive curriculum load and its impact on students. Students demonstrated their understanding through well-structured presentations and group discussions. Critical questions further enriched the sessions.

The focus shifted to models of curriculum and real-life issues, such as curriculum load. Hilda Taba’s model was highlighted, showcasing its step-by-step approach to curriculum planning. Active Participation: The target group, comprising B.El.Ed VII Semester students, actively participated by raising thought-provoking questions and engaging in meaningful dialogue.

Outcomes-

  1. Improved Knowledge: Participants gained a clearer understanding of the curriculum’s foundations, components, and challenges.
  2. Enhanced Presentation Skills: The students successfully demonstrated their ability to present complex topics confidently and effectively, As well as verbal and non-verbal communication skills improved through interactive engagement.

 

Conclusion

The Classroom Seminar on Knowledge & Curriculum-Foundation was a success, fulfilling its objectives and providing an excellent platform for students to learn, share, and grow. The active involvement of students and the guidance of faculty ensured the seminar’s effectiveness and relevance. The event concluded with an appreciation speech by Dr. Reeba Devi, acknowledging the efforts of the participants, coordinators, and organizers. The seminar not only enriched the participants academically but also equipped them with essential soft skills for their professional journey.
