REPORT on Vigilance Awareness Event–2025
Extension Activity on “Be the Change: Promoting Integrity and Vigilance in Public Life”
(SDG-16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions)

The Department of Education, Faculty of Education, and Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, jointly organized an Extension Activity under Vigilance Awareness Event-2025 on the theme “Be the Change: Promoting Integrity and Vigilance in Public Life.”
The event aimed to promote awareness about ethical values, honesty, and social responsibility among students, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal-16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The event was graced with the best wishes of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, who emphasized that vigilance and moral integrity are vital for creating a corruption-free and transparent society.
Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, appreciated the initiative for nurturing accountability and civic sense among youth. Prof. (Dr.) Indira Singh, Head, Department of Education, highlighted the importance of vigilance awareness in everyday life and encouraged students to be alert citizens. Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Chairman, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, explained the relevance of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s ideals of justice and equality in building an ethical society.
As part of the event, participating university students administered a questionnaire to the school students of Bal Kalyankari Shiv Shiksha Sadan Inter College to assess their awareness of emergency helpline numbers. After analysis, it was found that most students were well aware of commonly used numbers such as 112 (Emergency Helpline), 100 (Police), 108 (Ambulance), 102 (Medical Aid), and 101 (Fire Service). However, less awareness was observed regarding other important numbers such as 1090 (Women Helpline), 1098 (Child Helpline), 1078 (Disaster Helpline), 14567 (Senior Citizen Helpline), 1930 (Cyber Crime), 1912 (Electricity Helpline), 1916 (Consumer Helpline), and 1990 (Corruption Helpline).
The analysis concluded that students need further sensitization and awareness sessions about mergency response systems and citizen support services. The program witnessed active participation from students of various departments—Department of Education: Dhani, Itisha, Aashita, Chinki, Riya, Saloni, Seema Sharma, Aryan, Radha Sharma, Lakshita, Rakshit.
Department of Liberal Arts & Humanities Subharti Polytechnic College Department of Language: Vidhi Chauhan, Samiya, Faculty of Law: Gaurav, Anshdeep SinghHotel Management: Aayush, Swati, Department of Physical Education: Vikas, Navjut Singh Polytechnic Diploma: Krishna, Shivam. Ragini Srivastava contributed significantly to the successful coordination of the event, while Mr. Yogendra Pal Singh, Principal of the host school, extended his best wishes and appreciated the meaningful awareness drive. The event was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Reeba Devi, In-charge, Extension Activities, Department of Education, SVSU.
Outcomes
- Increased student understanding of vigilance and ethical responsibility.
