The programme was conducted in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) of the United Nations, focusing on the importance of maintaining mental and physical well-being, particularly in academic environments where stress and pressure are prevalent.
The key focus of the session was to highlight the importance of mental and physical wellness in academic life, provide stress management techniques for students, discuss coping mechanisms for anxiety and academic pressure, and encourage the development of a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Objectives of the Session
- To create awareness among students and faculty regarding the importance of mental and physical well-being.
- To provide practical strategies for managing stress and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
The programme commenced with a formal introduction highlighting the significance of wellness in academic and personal life. Participants were welcomed and oriented towards the growing need for mental health awareness within educational institutions.
Dr. Rahul Bansal (Professor & Advisor, Wellness Centre) delivered an insightful lecture focusing on student wellness and stress management. He emphasized the critical role of mental health in achieving academic success and personal growth. The session elaborated on practical strategies for managing stress, including time management, mindfulness, and maintaining a healthy routine.
In addition, Dr. Bansal guided participants on how to relax the body through meditation techniques and stressed the importance of staying away from distractions in daily life. He highlighted that mindfulness is essential for achieving success and encouraged students to adopt simple yet effective habits such as eating healthy food, practicing meditation in the morning, and praying for at least 10 minutes at night. These practices, he explained, help in maintaining both mental and physical well-being.
The speaker also discussed common challenges faced by students, such as anxiety and academic pressure, and provided effective coping mechanisms along with information about available support resources. The lecture underscored the importance of creating a supportive and open environment for discussing mental health concerns.
The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and raising queries related to stress management and wellness practices. Dr. Bansal addressed these queries thoughtfully, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
Faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically, reflecting the collective commitment of the institution towards promoting holistic well-being.
