“Legal Literacy and Awareness Program”
Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law organized a Legal Literacy and Awareness Program on 20/11/24 to spread the awareness in Village Jhitakri, Tehsil Sardhana, on the occasion of Legal Literacy and awareness week under the guidance Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean & Principal, Faculty of Law Meerut.A team of 30 students reached with the help of Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Coordinator of Legal Literacy and Awareness Week to the village and sensitized the villagers on various issues. The team of students was welcome by Mr. Rinku Singh, Village Pradhan and felt grateful to Subharti University for organizing the legal awareness program First speaker of the program Dr. Sarika Tyagi told them about the free legal aid services provided by the Subharti Institute of Law and how they can take advice free of cost. She also told us about the Good Samaritan law and it is your duty that if you see any accident victim then take the accident victim to the nearest hospital or help the victim by informing police or medical emergency, and you will not be liable for any civil or criminal liability. So today we made a pledge that we will not leave any accident victims unattended. After that Ms. Ankita Singh, B.A.LL.B.V Year told villagers to keep working on a safe environment and said that we should work together for the development of maintaining a safe environment. After that Ms. Suchita Tripathi, B.A.LL.B.-V Year bride said that Gender equality is a fundamental human right, but women and girls around the world do not fully experience equal rights. Unconscious biases and implicit associations can help achieve gender equality. Gender equality requires equal enjoyment by women and men of socially-valued goods, opportunities, resources and rewards. Where gender inequality exists, it is generally women who are excluded or disadvantaged in relation to decision-making and access to economic and social resources. Mr. Anushresth Pratap Singh, B.A.LL.B.-Vth Year told about the new criminal laws India’s new criminal laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024, include several changes, such as: Faster justice Judgments must be delivered within 45 days of the trial’s end, and charges must be framed within 60 days of the first hearing. Organized Crime the new penal code recognizes organized crime such as kidnapping, extortion, contract killings etc. as a member of a criminal syndicate. Mr. Ayush Anand, B.A.LL.B.-IV Year told about the Right to Education Act and requested all villagers to provide education to all children in their village. Ms. Aarti Goyal, B.A.LL.B.-IV Year told about the Access to basic needs of Senior citizens who should have access to food, water, shelter, clothing, and healthcare. Senior citizens should have access to income generating opportunities, such as work or other income sources. Senior citizens should have access to educational and training programs. Senior citizens should be able to live in safe environments that are adaptable to their changing capacities. Senior citizens should be free from mental and physical abuse and exploitation. Senior citizens have legal protections under the Constitution, personal laws, and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, children or heirs are legally obligated to maintain their senior citizens. At the end of the program, the formal vote of thank was delivered by Mr. Rinku Singh, Pradhan of the village said that he is very grateful to the Dean, Faculty of Law, Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law for organizing such a program and I hope that such activities will be continued in future also.
