Library Visit- IIT Central Library New Delhi
The Students of Library & Information Science Department, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University were taken on an educational tour to Central Library, I.I.T., Delhi under the direction of Dr. Sudhir Tyagi Head, Department of Library Science. Dr. Nabi Hasan, Librarian and Dr. Shankar Asst. Librarian provided information about various traditional and non-traditional autos which are used in modern libraries. They further described the importance of e-resources and e- libraries which are significant for today’s library collection and highlighted the method that how can we balance the growing collection in this era.
Dr. Nabi Hasan also delivered a lecture on Current Trends in Library Science. He told the importance of different types of information sources and the role of increasing collection of library today. He instructed that the desired material can be made available in the shortest possible time. He told the use of “R.F.I.D.” Technology in the library and educate the students that how the collection of the library can be protected from the problems of theft etc.
Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, HOD and all the faculty members of the department, Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, and Mrs. Aarti were present during the visit. Everyone showed great enthusiasm in the educational tour and showed interest in knowing various techniques related to library and library science.
