One Day International Lecture
A one-day international lecture was organized at the Department of Performing Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Subharti University meerut. In this lecture, eminent sarod player Rupa Newpane, who came from Nepal, presented her sarod playing. The program was started by lighting the lamp in front of Maa Saraswati.
Rupa Newpane ji is the first female sarod player of Nepal. She started her program with Raga Charukeshi, then she presented a Bandish in Shuddh Kalyan and concluded her program by presenting a Nepali tune based on Raga Bhairavi and enthralled the audience. All the listeners present in the auditorium were overwhelmed by her playing ability. She was accompanied on the tabla by Mr. Abhishek Mishra working in the Performing Arts Department of Subharti University. Rupa Neupane ji was welcomed by the Dean of Faculty Prof. Pintu Mishra and HOD Prof. Bhavna Grover. Dr. Venu Vanitha and Dr. Alpana, who came from Kanohar Lal Women’s College, appreciated the program. All the faculty members and teachers Dr. Vidhi Khandelwal, Dr. Indresh Mishra, Tanushree Kashyap, Nishi Chauhan, Shweta Singh, Mehraj Khan etc.
were present. The students of the department satiated their curiosities by asking many questions to the guest speaker. The successful anchoring of the program was done by Dr. Shweta Chowdhary. In the end, the vote of thanks was given by Dr.
Bhawna Grover.
