Structure of Indian Constitution
For making awareness about the structure of the Constitution of India a program has been organized in L.T.- IV, Subharti Dental College & Hospital Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. It was conducted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair on the date of 30.12.2023 at 11.00 AM in which all students and faculty members took part with great zeal and interest.
Mr. Pranshu Kaushal, Advocate Supreme Court of India, was invited for a lecture on the topic “Structure of Indian Constitution”. He has delivered a very motivating lecture regarding this. During this session, the attendees were introduced to the Structure of Indian Constitution.
Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee which played an important role in the formation of the Constitution. Dr. Ambedkar handled the task of presenting the draft constitution, answering various questions raised on it, and making necessary changes according to the suggestions of the Constituent Assembly. According to the Indian Constitution, the Parliament and the State Legislatures can make laws within their jurisdictions. The power to amend the Constitution is only with the Parliament and not the state legislative assemblies. However, this power of the Parliament is not absolute. The Supreme Court has the power to declare any law that it finds unconstitutional void. As per the Basic Structure Doctrine of the Indian Constitution, any amendment that tries to change the basic structure of the constitution is invalid.
