Department of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a “Workshop on Virtual Labs” under the Experiential Learning of students on 20th August 2022 by Dr. Shravan Kumar Garg, Professor, and Head, CSE/IT and Dr. Sanjive Tyagi, Associate Professor, CSE/IT on 20th August 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
Physical distance and limited equipment availability had always been a challenge for students and scholars to conduct sophisticated experiments.
The education giant FET, SVSU has addressed this challenge by setting up a virtual lab that also provides complete learning management system tools, web resources, video – lectures, animated demonstrations, and self-evaluation. Virtual labs can be used to complement physical labs in universities and users can perform experiments remotely, with on-demand service through a broadband internet connection and computer.
The session saw an astounding response with approx 121 registration from students of various departments of the University. The event was organized on the college campus under the supervision of Dr. Manoj Kapil (Professor & Dean, FET, SVSU) to help students in learning basic and advanced concepts through remote experimentation.
Among the faculty members of the department Er. Ashima and Er. Shweta Garg managed the whole session successfully.
Objective
The workshop was organized with the objective to:
- To provide remote access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering.
- To enthuse students to conduct experiments by arousing their curiosity. This would help them in learning basic and advanced concepts through remote experimentation.
- To provide a complete Learning Management System around the Virtual Labs where the students can avail the various tools for learning, including additional web resources, video lectures, animated demonstrations, and self-evaluation.
- To share costly equipment and resources, which are otherwise available to a limited number of users due to constraints on time and geographical distance
