Department of Physical Education Organizes Symposium on “Shaping the Future of Physical Education: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities”
The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a Symposium on “Shaping the Future of Physical Education: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities” on 12 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The symposium aimed to create awareness regarding emerging developments, future opportunities, and challenges in the field of physical education and sports sciences.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who felicitated the distinguished Resource Persons, Dr. Vivekanad Dey and Dr. Awadesh Kumar Singh, by presenting ceremonial shawls (Padtka) and saplings as tokens of respect and gratitude. Faculty members and students enthusiastically attended the academic event.
During the symposium, the speakers shared their expert perspectives on the changing landscape of physical education in the context of technological advancements, sports sciences, digital learning, fitness industries, research innovation, and global educational trends. The speakers emphasized the importance of adopting multidisciplinary approaches, research-oriented learning, and skill-based education for the future growth of physical education.
The symposium also addressed current challenges faced by physical educators and sports professionals, including modernization of curriculum, employability concerns, technological adaptation, and the need for scientific coaching methodologies. More than 40 students from B.P.Ed. and B.P.E.S. programmes actively participated and gained valuable knowledge regarding future opportunities and professional growth in the field of physical education.
