Awareness Programme on Anti Ragging

An ‘Awareness Programme on Anti Ragging’ was conducted at MASCHNYS on 12-08-2023 for the students on the occasion of Anti-Ragging Day, to start the Anti ragging week from 12/08/2023 to 18/08/2023.

The Programme was started at 09.00 a.m. at Yoga hall of MASCHNYS. The purpose of this program is to increase the awareness against Ragging. UGC decided that from this year Anti Ragging day will be observed on 12th August followed by Anti-Ragging week.

The resource person Dr. Niraj Nayan Rishi started his speech with an explanation to ragging.

Any act of physical or mental abuse directed at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the basis of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence, or economic background is now defined as ragging. He briefed the audience about the implications of ragging, which he believed would be disastrous for both sides.

He spoke that even the honorable Supreme Court in its order has banned ragging in any form in institutions and many educational authorities like UGC, AICTE, Anna University and the Governments have issued stern warning against ragging and proposed ways and means to curb the menace of ragging.

166 Students attended this program.
