Saraswati Pujan on the Occasion of Vasant Panchami

On the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami, the Department of Languages, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organized a Saraswati Puja and Vandana programme on 23 January 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The event was conducted with collective participation, discipline, and devotion, aiming to strengthen the academic environment through cultural and spiritual values.

The programme commenced with a melodious Saraswati Vandana presented by the students of the Department of Languages, which created a spiritually enriched and positive atmosphere. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, marking the formal inauguration of the programme. Subsequently, the ritual worship of Goddess Saraswati was performed under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Seema Sharma.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Seema Sharma emphasized that education is not merely the accumulation of knowledge but a continuous process of developing wisdom, discipline, and creativity. She highlighted the role of such cultural programmes in nurturing balanced and value-oriented student life.

Dr. Rafat Khanam described Vasant Panchami as a symbol of intellectual awakening and lifelong pursuit of knowledge, while Dr. Manisha Luthra elaborated on the interrelationship between language, literature, and culture, stressing that cultural and spiritual activities contribute significantly to the holistic development of students.

All faculty members of the Department of Languages including Dr. Yeshpal, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Swati Sharma, Mr. Ankit Kumar, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Mr. Abhijeet Sharma, Ms. Bhavana Joshi and Ms. Soni Chauhan actively participated in the programme and expressed a collective view that cultural activities make the teaching–learning process more meaningful and sensitive. Students participated enthusiastically, dressed in yellow attire, and assisted in the worship and overall arrangements with discipline and devotion.

Overall, the programme was successfully conducted as a collective academic and cultural initiative, fostering harmony between teachers and students and enriching the academic environment with positive values.
