15-day training program on “Food Processing and Preservation”

The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing Government of Uttar Pradesh, successfully conducted a 15-day training program on “Food Processing and Preservation” under the guidance of Dr. Nishma, Head of the Department. The program took place from October 26th to November 9th, aiming to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in the field of food preservation and processing. The training program featured esteemed external experts, Mr. Shushil Kumar Sirohi and Mr. Ramavatar from the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Uttar Pradesh. These experts played a crucial role in imparting practical and theoretical knowledge to the participants, guiding them through the entire process of food preservation and processing. A total of 106 students and faculty members actively participated in the training program, demonstrating a strong interest in enhancing their understanding of food preservation and processing techniques. Participants were actively involved in hands-on learning experiences, gaining practical skills in the creation of various food products. The items included in the training program were pickles, jam, jelly, murabba, squashes, chutneys, sauces, and more. The success of the program is credited to the efforts of the organizing team, consisting of Ms. Swati Sharma, Dr. Shalu Nehra, Dr. Neetu Yadav, Ms. Virender Pal Kaur, and Ms. Urvashi Sharma. Their meticulous planning and execution ensured the smooth operation of the training program.
