Celebration of 16th National Voter’s Day

16th National Voters’ Day was celebrated at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University on 25th January 2026, which was organised by Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, to commemorate the Foundation Day of the Election Commission of India and to emphasize the significance of voting as a cornerstone of democracy.

The Chief coordinator for the programme was Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Law, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, who ensured effective participation and smooth execution of all activities at the university level.

The event effectively fulfilled its objective of commemorating the Foundation Day of the Election Commission of India while reinforcing the significance of voting as a fundamental democratic right and civic duty.

Through a series of thoughtfully planned activities including a debate competition, voters’ pledge, and e-poster competition, the programme succeeded in fostering awareness, critical thinking, and responsible electoral behaviour among students. The active participation of various colleges across the university reflected a collective commitment towards strengthening democratic values and promoting ethical electoral practices.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT:

  1. Debate Competition (24.01.2026): A debate competition was organised on 24th January 2026, wherein students actively participated and expressed their views on the topic of “Special Intensive Revision Should be Held at Short and Regular Intervals”. The competition encouraged critical thinking and fostered meaningful discussions on electoral awareness and democratic values. Best Teams were awarded 1st , 2nd and 3rd positions.

The results reflected strong teamwork and enthusiastic participation of the students. The First Position (Best Team) was secured by Srishti Sirohi and Om Thakur for their outstanding collaborative performance. The Second Position was jointly awarded to the teams of Nilesh Mishra and Preet, and Jiya and Nitesh, in appreciation of their commendable efforts. The Third Position was secured by Vaidehi and Komal Kumari, recognizing their effective coordination and performance in the event.

  1. Voters’ Pledge (23.01.2026 & 24.01.2026): All colleges of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University took a Voters’ Pledge during the said period. Students, faculty members, and staff took a solemn pledge to exercise their voting rights responsibly, uphold democratic values, and promote free, fair, and ethical elections.

All colleges have shared their Geotag photos while taking the pledge.

3.E-Poster Competition (25.01.2026): An E-Poster Competition was organised on 25th January 2026 on the theme “Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Roll – 2026.” Participants were asked to submit their posters before 3pm on 25.01.26 through Google form link. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from all across the university.

The results of the competition showcased commendable performances by students from various faculties of the university. Tejaswi Raj from the Faculty of Education secured the First Position. The Second Position was jointly awarded to Harshitta Khurana of Subharti Dental College and Rupali Singh from the Faculty of Pharmacy. The Third Position was also shared by Lavi Malik and Zahira Hassan, both representing the Subharti Law College, in recognition of their noteworthy participation and performance.

The observance of National Voters’ Day concluded on a meaningful note, leaving a lasting impact on participants by inspiring them to become informed, responsible, and proactive citizens.
